Join us on June 2, 2012 in beautiful Piedmont Park (Charles Allen & 10th Street entrance) for our 5K Walk to End Violence Against Women and Girls. Registration begins at 10am; we’ll start walking at 10:30am.
Why are we walking? Violence against women and girls is a worldwide pandemic. Up to 70% of women experience physical or sexual violence from men in their lifetime. Among women aged 15 to 44, acts of violence cause more death and disability than cancer, malaria, traffic accidents and war combined. The cost of intimate partner violence in the U.S. exceeds $5.8 billion per year. 102 countries have no specific legal provisions against domestic violence. These are just some of the shocking statistics, So please join us, either by becoming a walker or a sponsor.
