We did it! It's not too late to donate though. Feel free to give as much as you can knowing that all your dollars are giving hope to these desperately poor children and helping them to get out of the cycle of poverty they are trapped in. Dig deep, people, dig deep. The children of Cambodia need your help.
Thank you for visiting Adrian and Barbara Shooter's fundraising page. We are driving from Peking to Paris, a distance of over 14000 kms, in a 1930 Ford Model A. www.pekingtoparis.com We are dedicating this epic journey to the children of Cambodia and hope to raise lots of money for The Ponheary Ly Foundation.
Ponheary Ly is one of the most remarkable women that I have ever met. She survived, along with her Mother and six siblings the Khmer Rouge genocide of the 1970's and the subsequent Vietnamese occupation. Her father and one sister did not survive. In total Ponheary lost 13 members of her family during the genocide. Ponheary, and her remaining family, have dedicated their lives to helping to educate the disenfranchised children of Cambodia in order to help rebuild their shattered country and stop anything like the Khmer Rouge being able to rise again.
Ponheary, her brother Dara and sister Marina are expert tour guides and this, along with the families guesthouse provides their income. The whole Ly family works hard for the Foundation, right down to the youngest members. What makes this charity very special is that no one is paid a salary out of donations. The administration costs of the Foundation, which are only about 6% are met by a specific, private donation. This means that every cent you give willl go to helping over 2200 street kids go to school. The children's welfare needs are also taken care of; they are fed, given access to clean water, their health needs are looked after and, most of all, they are able to get an education.
I have spent over 10 weeks in Cambodia this year to read more of my experiences go to www.barbarashooter.blogspot.com.
Adrian and I are funding the Rally ourselves and everything that you donate will go towards educating some of the poorest children in the world.
