As some of you know, in Feb '07 I had a nasty mountain bike accident.  You can read about the gory details in this blog which chronicles the wreckage, surgery, and recovery.

I basically quit biking for a year and haven't done a race or triathlon since.

Now I'm putting that past behind me and I'd like your support. 

I have been biking, swimming and running again but it is time to get back in the races!

On May 16th, 2009 I will take part in a 45-mile Mountain Bike ride to benefit the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Nevada County.

I am aking you to support this worthwhile non-profit organization that makes life better for kids in so many ways.  I would be honored to have you join my team.

But you don't have to ride with me - I'll do all the work!

And here's what I'm going to do:

• Buy a brand new white racing jersey
• Write your message (45 characters max) on the jersey in Black Sharpie Pen
• Wear it during the race
• Feel the support of you pushing me up 22.5 miles of long windy trails
• Yell a 'thank you' to you while I'm flying down those 22.5 miles of long windy trails

This is the first time I have ever done a race where I ask for pledges.  I have given to dozens in my life and it always felt so good to be on a team and helping a cause while sitting on the couch allowing someone else to do the work.  Now I'm giving that chance back to you :)

I'm asking you to do this only if you feel like doing it.  No pressure - we'll still be FaceBook friends.
