Boston Marathon 2011
Welcome to our fundraising page! As some of you know we are training for the Boston Marathon. Yes, that's right, we are planning on running 26.2 miles. We know ... we're crazy. As this will be Renee's second marathon and Keith's first, we have taken our training really seriously. Over the past few months we have been working hard to get our running mileage up. To do it, we have been running outside, sometimes in the freezing cold, 3-4 times per week. In the past two weeks we have completed long runs of 13 and 15 miles, which puts us well on our way to achieving our goal of running 26.2 miles on April 18th.
As the Boston Marathon filled its qualifying positions in a record setting 8 hours this year, official numbers for the race have been hard to find. Thankfully, we were both lucky enough to obtain official charity numbers for this year's race.
In order to hold up our part of the bargain we need to raise $3500 for Generation Excel, a foundation that is dedicated to helping children and adults lead healthier lives through inspirational campaigns, multimedia initiatives, nutrition education and physical fitness programs. Since 2004, their organizations has produced 4 campaigns, over 200 events, a documentary film and sponsored hundreds of children to attend weight loss summer camps. For more information on the organizations extraordinary achievements please visit their website at www.genexcel.org .
We would greatly appreciate any donation. We know times are hard for most people but there is no donation that is too small. This website is complety secure, although they do take 7.5% of every donation as a transaction fee. If you would like to avoid that fee please feel free to send a check made out to "Generation Excel" to The Bartolomei's, 13 Emmet St #1, South Boston MA. The last date to submit donations is March 31, 2010.
Thank you all so much for your support and we will keep everyone updated on our training. If there is anyone we forgot to send this to please forward on to them.
