Buddy Sue's Fundraising Page
Buddy Sue is a four month old puppy who has a pinched nerve in his back, which doesn't allow him to feel when he goes potty. He has to wear a diaper at this time, and be helped, manually, to potty. The good news is, Buddy can have surgery, but the surgery is going to cost at least $1500.00, but may be closer to $2000.00. Please help Buddy Sue lead a normal life. You can also donate directly to Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue at www.midwestbtrescue.org. Please note in the comments that your donation should go towards Buddy Sue's surgery.
** UPDATE **
Buddy Sue had an appointment with a neurologist yesterday (7-2-10). She believes that the condition is neurogenic bladder/bowel dysfunction which is due, in part, to the nerves not forming which control bladder and bowel brain recognition to empty. Buddy has no response to any stimulus in the lower spine and the muscle tone of the rectum and lower colon is flacid while the external anal area demonstrates a very minor amount of tone. Surgery will not be an option as this is not fixable.
At this time she does not recommend euthanasia because she felt the the quality of his life was very good. She is recommending a prescription that needs to be compounded that may increase the contraction of the bladder to produce a better urine stream. This medicine will be very expensive.
I have lowered the amount slightly, since he will not be needing the surgery.
