NJBG Support's Fundraising Page

Thank you for visiting! This is the second fundraising page we've set up to raise money for the American Diabetes Association - the first one ran from August 2008 - August 2009 and raised over $1,400! We hope this one will be even more successful.

NJBG Support ("Not Just By Giving") was started in honor of every child who has been diagnosed with diabetes around the world, but was inspired by two people: my boyfriend Björn van Gerwen, who found out that he had type 1 diabetes when he was only eight years old, and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, who was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2005.

I started this campaign to spread awareness about diabetes and raise money for research through the use of community and online education and promotion of the ADA's endeavors. Currently, being a college student, I have put the active campaign on hold, but I still try to raise money and educate people whenever I can. This includes walking in the annual Step Out: Walk to Fight Diabetes, hosted by the ADA.

All of the money raised on this page will go directly to the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation, a terrific non-profit organization that we fully support. You can read more about their mission and journey in diabetes research at www.diabetes.org.

In addition, the Jonas Brothers started a foundation called Change For The Children, an organization that obtains donations for five important charities and foundations that brothers Kevin, Joe, and Nick find especially important. There is currently no way to donate directly to their foundation, as they leave it up to you to donate to their sponsored charities. "YOU decide. YOU donate." is their motto. You can view their cause and find ways to donate at www.changeforthechildren.org

We can all create change for the better, but many of us don't realize it. The power of one is very powerful indeed, and there is absolutely no reason you should believe that you can't make a difference by yourself. Please donate. Any amount, small or large, is appreciated, and I thank you for contributing to such an important cause.

Sincerely,
Becky Mahan
