I remember the day Mark was diagnosed with ASD(Autism Spectrum Disorder) he was 4 years old and I felt like it was the worst day of my life.No mother wants to hear her child has a boo boo never mind a disability or impairment. Worry sets in wondering if he will be treated differently in life or made fun of and then you worry if you have the strength to get him through it? Well you find the strength to go to MRI'S, EEG'S, doctors and therapy and have your son go to school full time at age three . Mark did not speak till age three and did not form sentences till 3&1/2 almost 4

Mark is now 9 years old and is a very high functioning Autistic child, he is doing great in fact sometimes you can not get him to stop talking! He is finally this year in a general -ed class full time with help from an aide. It was a fight to get him in there but he showed everyone he can do it!!!  Mark still has a long journey ahead of him just like other children who have this thats why our team Mark's Marchers will be walking to raise money to send a warwick school teacher  at Cedar Hill for special training in autism. Last year we accomplished that goal and are hoping to do it again! I have checked with the teachers at Mark's school and they really want the free training to learn how they can better understand and teach children like Mark .

Every 20 mins. a child is diagnosed with Autism, It is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the U.S.!  I will do everything I can to make sure Mark gets all the help and support and love to guide him in life .I am his mommy ,his protector, his advocate and his biggest cheerleader!!!
