We have an immediate need in our community.  This year we have more expectant mothers asking us for help than ever before.  Most have recently lost their jobs and housing.  Many have given birth to special needs children; two recent examples: 

• A baby girl was diagnosed with a life threatening condition.  The doctor told us to put a ‘Do not resuscitate order’ on her.  By God’s grace a loving family has adopted her and she is still alive and her parents are filled with hope today.
• A baby boy was born with a critical heart condition.  Surgery was done in NY.  He is now at home and thriving with his adoptive family.    

A few expectant mothers will marry the fathers and become a family earlier than expected. Most will be scared and not know what to do.  Some will abort their babies.  Some will take time to think about their options. 

Bethany is called to help these expectant women by providing options with MORE LOVE!  So far this year we have served 60 expectant mothers.  If needed funding becomes available we estimate we will serve about 80 expectant mothers in 2009.  

From our experience with thousands of expectant mothers, providing MORE LOVE helps them sort through their options. We do everything we can to enable a mom to parent her baby where possible and to make a decision that is in the best interest of her child and herself.

Some need extra time to decide what to do even after the baby is born.  So far this year, Bethany has provided temporary infant foster care for 12 infants to assist Moms and their babies at this critical time.  This is about ¼ of all the expectant mothers that ask us for help.
