Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Braking The Cycle!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Since 1999 I have been participating in bike rides benefiting New York based AIDS charities. This year, in celebration of what would be my brother's 50th birthday and the 25th anniversary of his death, I am back in the saddle. I'm raising much needed funds for Housing Works. Founded in 1990 to fight for housing rights for people living with AIDS, Housing Works has expanded their HIV/AIDS services to include medical care, mental health services, case management, prevention, advocacy (on the local, state, national and international level), job training/placement...the services go on and on!
I ride for Ira. Because I can. Because I must. Because I was so affriad 25 years ago that I would forget him. I now know I never will. But I also cannot forget his struggle. My struggle & my parents' in dealing with his swift and horrific death. He was brave and strong--traits I need as I ride 285 miles from Boston to NYC over three days. It won't be easy. There will be more hills than you can imagine; more than I want to climb. I will cry and laugh and beg to get to the end. And somehow I will--slowly, probably painfully, and always with my brother in my heart.
There are too many people still contracting, living and dying from HIV/AIDS. 25 years later--it's just too long. So here I go, riding and trying to make a differnce. Help me make a difference! No donation is too small...or too big.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
