A Run For Your Money
Aloha!
Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring
Hawaii’s youth to become responsible citizens. BGCH currently operates 12 sites on Oahu and Kauai, where BGCH members can access a multitude of programs and services.
Known as “The Positive Place for Kids,” BGCH’s clubhouses and outreach sites provide guidance-oriented character development programs six days a week for children 7-17 years old. Key programs emphasize character and leadership development; education, technology and career development; health and life skills; the arts; and sports, fitness and recreation.
Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii members pay annual dues of just $1, yet it costs $365 to support each club member for a year. Thanks to the generous support of community volunteers, local companies and caring individuals, our youngsters have a place where they can grow up to be responsible individuals — a safe place where they can just be kids.
As a BGCH member in my youth, I first developed a love for the arts and sports which has led to a fulfilling career as a creative professional and a competitive triathlete. This December, I will be running in the Honolulu Marathon with the goal of completing the 26.2-mile course in 3 hours and 3 minutes, to qualify for the prestigious Boston Marathon. This lofty goal will require me to maintain an average pace of seven minutes per mile throughout the entire marathon. So, for every mile that I complete in seven minutes or less, I humbly ask that you pledge $1 to pay for a youngster’s annual dues.
In the spirit of maintaining a 7:00/mi. pace, my goal is to raise $777 to help support key programs at “the postive place for kids”. Please consider making a pledge to the A Run For Your Money campaign which will allow BGCH to continue helping kids, families and the community.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Much mahalo for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
