Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My two sons Connor and Cameron are biking across the United States with me. It starts on May 12, 2012 at the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, and will finish (God and the elements willing) on July 2, at Yorktown VA. In between will be 3500 miles, hopefully not too many flat tires, and a lot of good memories. Thanks especially to Susan my wife and Caroline our daughter for supporting us in the trip. Please visit our blog to track our progress as we cross the USA: http://bike-across-america-hill.blogspot.com/
We are biking for a charity: Water Aid (http://www.wateraidamerica.org/). They are a non profit that is dedicated to transforming lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene, and sanitation for the world's poorest communities. Think about it: today globally, one in eight of us (884 million people) lacks access to fresh water on a daily basis. Two in five of us (2.5 billion people) do not have adequate sanitation on a daily basis. The lack of basic services makes it impossible for these people to lead productive lives. To me, this is the sleeper issue - few people are paying attention to it, yet the impact is huge. Further, these programs have amongst the most positive returns available for any area to make a donation to. Even though this may not be happening visibly in our local communities, the problem is ours to help solve since we live in an interconnected global world.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
