2009 Climb to Cure Duchenne

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.  My name is Bill Procko.  On behalf of my son, Evan, and children around the world who have been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, (DMD),  the most lethal genetic disorder affecting children worldwide, I am helping to organize a climbing team of DMD parents, doctors, researchers, and rock musicians to ascend Mt. Rainier this coming August.  Our goal is to raise, (as a team), over $170,000 dollars for Duchenne research, along with a large sum of priceless awareness. 

Each climber, (myself included) is responsible for raising $14,410 dollars by the August climb date.  That amount of money is equal to the mountain's elevation in feet.  All donations will go to "Cure Duchenne", a non-profit, parent-run foundation which is currently funding some of the most promising research trials in the world.  These trials are among the most likely candidates to help save Evan's life, as well as thousands upon thousands of boys around the world.  Without a cure or treatment, the life expectancy of a Duchenne boy is late teens to early twenties. It is 100% fatal, no exceptions.

Your donations will make a difference. Five years ago, Cure Duchenne was the first organization to fund a research project with a small company in the Netherlands called "Prosensa".  Now ,five years later, Prosensa is in clinical trials with the most promising therapy to save Evan's life.  Donations made back then paved the way for us to have hope today.  Your donations today can make a difference in Evan's tomorrow.

Please donate toward my goal of $14,410.  Every dollar will count as a foot of elevation towards the summit.  No donation is too small.
