Biking to Break the Cycle Good Day, My name is Blake Dyer and I am from Salt Lake City Utah. I am here to ride to Alaska and help defeat the pandemic problem of child violence. The name of this event has become "Biking to Break the Cycle". I just finished an internship with the Utah State Legislature where I had the pleasure to be a part of House Representative Carl Wimmer's passage of two bills that increased the penalty for crimes committed against children. I will be leaving on April 20th and it will to take two months to get to Alaska. I will leave from Salt Lake, travel to San Francisco, go up the coast to Vancouver, then over into Alberta and up the Alaskan highway I plan to document the trip with both pictures and journal entries, of which will be updated on my website http://www.bikingtobreakthecycle.com/. You can follow my progress, learn important information about child violence and share your thoughts and experience. Some of the fundraising activities I have planned are events at -One World Cafe -A benefit concert -An auction in Park City -"Lunch in the Park" with some of Salt Lake's Small business's I am also trying to organize events in San Francisco and Seattle as I ride through. Biking to Break the Cycle is coming together to raise money for Love Our Children USA which is a great organization that has helped thousands of children across the United States. One reason I chose them is because they seek to stop the problem before it starts. Through community outreach, education and resources child violence is quelled in the United StatesI will complete this journey to show children that obstacles can be beaten and significant hardship overcome.
