Blake Marshall's Trans-America Tour
(Here is where I'll document the events leading up to and through the trip.)
Thanks for visiting my fund-raising page!
My name is Blake Marshall and I'm a graduate student living in Boston, MA. I am currently planning on completing a self-funded and self-sustained bicycle trip from Yorktown, VA to Florence, OR. The Trans-America Trail (a collection of road routes) covers 4,247.5 miles (6836 km) and I aim to complete the entire trip between the pending dates of June 25th and August 25th, 2009.
All funds donated to my trip will go directly to Montaña de Luz, an HIV/AIDS orphanage in Honduras. For more information on this wonderful organization, please visit this website: http://montanadeluz.org/
The obvious question that will be asked is: "Why do you have to bike for two months to raise money?" My answer is simple: While visiting MdL over the previous two years, I have found so much courage in these children that face so much adversity at such a young age; it has inspired me to take a closer look at my life and, ultimately, inspired me to take two months out of my life to complete this physically/mentally-daunting trip.
I strongly encourage you to talk with me about this trip before you even think about opening your wallets, so please feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org or give me a call at 508.633.2196, and I would love to tell you all about my trip and Montaña de Luz!
Thank you so much and God bless!
