Welcome to the HDSA Illinois 5th Annual Celebration of Hope donation page. This page will allow those of you who are unable to attend this year's Celebration to support the event by making an online donation.
The Illinois Celebration of Hope is held every year to raise funds for the HDSA Center of Excellence at Rush University Medical Center, where individuals with HD and their families receive medical, psychological, and social services, as well as physical and occupational therapy, genetic counseling and genetic testing.
The HDSA Illinois 5th Annual Celebration of Hope will be held on Friday, August 28, 2009, at 6pm, at the Renaissance Chicago Hotel. The Honorable Richard M. Daley, Mayor of Chicago, is Honorary Chairperson of our Celebration, and we will be honoring distinguished members of our community with the HDSA Awards of Excellence. This year's honorees are:
Alexi Giannoulias, Illinois State Treasurer
Richard Rodriguez, President of Chicago Transit Authority
Mary Richardson-Lowry, Partner at Mayer Brown
Linda Mastandrea, Director of Paralympic Sport & Accessibility at Chicago 2016
Lundbeck, Inc. (formerly Ovation Pharmaceuticals)
And the Illinois Family of the Year is the Marchetti/Rybarczyk Family
The theme for the evening is "Night in Havana" highlighted by a lovely performance of "Habaneras: The Music of Cuba," by the River North Chicago Dance Company. Also performing will be the Cuba-inspired Charanga Tropical, a salsa ensemble that will delight the crowd with rhythmic Cuban music. The evening will be filled with music, dancing, food, silent and live auctions...a wonderful evening awaits our guests.
