I'm fundraising for an amazing organization, that I am lucky enough to work for. Let me tell you about it.
The Neighborhood Resource Center is a grassroot non-profit whose mission is to foster personal growth and community change in the Greater Fulton Community. The NRC strengthens individuals and communities by providing opportunities for neighbors to build relationships, access resources, and develop the skills to enhance their lives and determine the fate of the community. The Neighborhood Resource Center is about neighbors working together to reach personal and community goals.
Your donation would support Preschool, Youth, and Adult Programs.
The At the NRC, we believe that quality early childhood education is the surest way to build a strong foundation in the community, starting with our most valuable resource — our children. Therefore, we offer a full day Montessori Preschool program for children, ages 2.5 to 5 years old, where they learn language, math, geography and much more in a safe, loving and self-paced environment.
For youth ages 6 - 16 we have an after school program Monday - Thursday, from 3:30 - 6:30. During that time the NRC has 30-40 youth coming through the door. These youth sit down for a hot meal (a typical day might have greens from the garden, quiona pilif, slow roasted antibiotic free chicken, kiwi fruit, and milk). They then do their homework wilth help from volunteer tutors, or they may grab a book from the NRC libray to read. At five every evening the youth have a variety of programs to choose from. These include:
- Cooking class
- Art Class
- Gardening Class
- Dance Class
- Young Writers Workshop and Recording Studio
- Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
- Tae Qwon Do
- Begginers Chess
- Youth Group
- Youth Led Farm Stand
For Adults the NRC provides Job Support Services which include: Faxing, Printing, Phone Use and Computer Use, Computer Education, and Resume Wrting Education/Assitance. There is a small library where books are available to check out, and computers avaible with high speed internet access. In the evenings the NRC has GED, dance, meditation and Tae Qwon Do classes.
