Becky was taken away from the world far too early, at the very young age of 44. In her lifetime, she gave tremendously to the Kansas City community, and she gave me two of my most precious gifts in our daughters Rachel and Sarah.
As she was dying, the one thing she feared more than anything else was that the girls would forget her over time. In 2007, Rachel said that I needed purple tape on my goal sticks to honor Mom, and from that, Have A Skate With Bob was born.
Thanks to the KC hockey community, coworkers, and friends like you, "Skate" was successful beyond our wildest dreams and we're back again. You see, we had a dream that was far greater that hers, we also wanted to make sure that the world didn't forget her.
Once again this year, I will be contributing $1 per save, $10 per win and $25 for each shutout in I earn in November. Thank you for your contribution, big or small, and thank you for helping us keep Becky's memory alive.
We will also be holding our second annual benefit hockey game on the evening of November 28 at Line Creek Community Center; if you're in the area, we'd love to have you join us in the festivities!
