I tried to talk my son Jack into joining me in Freezin' for a Reason and he told me I was nuts. When your youngest tells you that you should probably listen. In my infinite wisdom I have chosen to ignore him and see just how brave I am.
At 1:00 on Saturday February 11 I am going swimming in Long Island Sound to raise money for Wakeman Boys & Girls Club. What do I need from you? First I need you to support my insanity and all the good things that Wakeman does by making a donation to support my plunging. Secondly, I need you to say nice things about me when I am gone if I don't make it out of the water! Just kidding......I hope!
The early weather forecast is for 29 degrees and the water temperature is currently 38! Jack is right, I am nuts!
Why am I doing this then? Becase Wakeman is a terrific organization that I'm proud to support as a member of the Board of Directors. They have three different Clubhouses, two in Fairfield and one that just opened up in Bridgeport. They also offer mentoring and tutoring programs at McKinley Elementary School in Fairfield. All together Wakeman will help more than 4,000 kids this year and that is why I am taking part in "Freezin' for a Reason". It doesn't matter where a kid lives or what program is their favorite - there is something for everyone at Wakeman!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to share my page with anyone who you think might want to donate too! And if you want to swim with me .....just let me know!
Thanks for your help! Bob
