In His Hands - RSDSA
Hello my name is Bonita (Bonnie) Brown and I have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. RSD is a chronic neurologic disorder whose hallmark system is severe and often burning Pain.
I will be participating in the Hope and Possibility/Walk Roll, and Run in Central Park NY with Team CRPS/RSD , to raise awareness of RSD, educate the general public and the medical community and fund research.
And I will be doing so from an electric wheelchair chair because I have RSD in my lower extremities and arms. ( full body )
Any dollar we raise for research translates to better treatment options and ultimately the search for a cure, for the 1.2 million people who suffer from the Syndrome.
The constant Pain is described as if a red-hot poker were inserted into the effected areas, also throbbing aching stabbing sharp tingling and crushing pain in the toes and legs, and also in hands from time to time.
The affected areas are either hot or cold to the touch, and the skin sometimes turns purple. I could go on and on with spasms, non sleeping, memory loss, depression and other symptoms.
But I would rather tell you why I am doing this walk , It is called HOPE---- for myself and others , I no longer what to be one of the ones who could no longer bare the pain, loneliness etc. and take there life ( almost did) . I want to help with educating the public, medical field of this disease and help finance researchers to possibly find a cure if not to help me to help someone in the near future. For I would not wish this kind a Pain on anyone. And doing this also helps keep my mind off the pain a little.
