Team Samantha
Samantha started having seizures when she was 6 years old, she is now 10 years old. We have been "lucky" in the that her seizures were controlled by the first medication we tried with few side effects.
She had been seizure free for almost two years when she had another EEG done. We were hopeful but cautious! Unfortunately, her EEG showed that in addition to Complex Partial Seizures she was now having absence seizures which the Keppra was not controlling.
Samantha is now taking 2 medications twice a day to control her seizures. Our hope is that she will outgrow her seizures but are preparing her that this might be life long. However, she can be and is a very normal girl!
