Hi Everyone!
It is hard to believe that I have been cancer free for 10 years!!
As most of you know, 10 years ago I was diagnosed with carcinoid cancer after a trip to the doctor with symptoms of coughing and wheezing. A golf ball size carcinoid tumor was discovered in my right lung. I was totally blindsided and devastated by the diagnosis, but did what I had to do and underwent a lung resection on July 11, 2002.
Wanting to feel whole and healthy again, I began running in March, 2006. I had never run before and now faced training for my first 5K with just one lung. I completed that first 5K on July 2, 2006, almost exactly 4 years after losing my lung. I have since completed over 45 5Ks and 8Ks, 9 half marathons and 2 marathons!
I have made the decision to train again this year for the Chicago Rock n Roll Half Marathon which takes place on July 22, 2012.
Please support me by donating to Caring for Carcinoid. I have set my fundraising goal at $2000. Any amount you donate will be greatly appreciated by me and my fellow carcinoid patients. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
You can donate online with a credit card. All donations are secure and sent directly to CARING FOR CARCINOID FOUNDATION INC by FirstGiving, who will email you a printable record of your donation.
Please send my page on to anyone who might like to donate!
With love, thanks and gratitude,
