Thanks for visiting my Team World Vision fundraising web page for my July 15/16 Seattle to Portland Cycle ride for children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa

According to United Nations estimates, every 14 seconds a child is orphaned due to HIV/AIDS. This means that over 6,000 children every day join the over 14 million children worldwide who have been orphaned by this disease. Often these children do not have enough to eat, no clean water to drink, no access to proper medical care, they cannot attend school and grow up in an environment of fear and neglect. Without a loving hand to support and guide them, in many cases they must care for sick and dying parents and are left with the responsibility of raising their younger siblings. Our hearts are broken for these precious children and like me you may have wondered, "What can I do to help?"

I will participate in the Seattle to Portland Cycle Ride as part of Team World Vision Seattle/Tacoma in order to raise support for World Vision, a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty.

By supporting my efforts, you can help ensure a better future for these children and their communities. World Vision is present where human needs are greatest, working to provide hope through health care, clean water, nutritious food, education, and economic opportunities to children and their communities. A little money can go a long way to help! Here are some examples:

• $30 can feed a child for a month
• $50 can give 30 medicine sets to clinics in Africa
• $100 can provide a low interest small business loan for an impoverished mother
• $360 can feed a child for a year
• $500 provides 20 orphan care kits
• $1000 can educate 10 AIDS orphans for one year
