PUNTA GORDA, FL — It's not too early to think about Halloween and finding the perfect costume. “What is a pirate without his eye-patch? A princess without her crown?” -- This Halloween, Vallacare Family Physicians will unveil their First ever MAKE A DIFFERENCE DAY community outreach initiative. Make a Difference Day is the largest community service effort in the nation, rallying corporations, government leaders, charitable organizations and everyday Americans into action on one day.
This year Vallacare will launch their ongoing effort to Make A Difference with their “Candy & Costume for a Cause” Drive, to Benefit Voices For Kids Of Southwest Florida, Guardian Ad Litem 20th Judicial Circuit. From October 1st to the 25th, participating area business will house a "costume closets," - in the form of a 40 Gallon Box donated by Charlotte County Waste Management, where community members can drop off candy, new or gently used costumes and spooky accessories to be distributed to court-appointed Guardians of abused and neglected children in community.
Candy & Costumes for a Cause, is an innovative twist on the popular Christmas toy drive, the Halloween Drive will be the first of its kind in the area and taps into Vallacare’s commitment to healthy family fun and the company’s core values of providing plenty of comfort and smiles to our community.
Vallacare Family Physicians is committed to spreading Halloween cheer by helping make sure that children who are under privileged will have the chance to dress up as princesses, pirates or the hero of their choice. Business throughout Charlotte County are participating in this year’s drive, which will kick off October 1st. All Halloween costumes donated will be hand-delivered to smiling youngsters on October 25th, with a message that do-gooding and fun go hand in hand! Vallacare Family Physicians anticipates the Halloween Drive will again give both employees and members of the community the ability to participate in an event that delivers heartfelt fun beyond the healthcare field and into the community.
"Halloween is one of the most child-centered holidays we celebrate and often the most overlooked by donors," Vallacare Family Physicians Director of Business Development Bree Dillow said “We are thrilled to unmask the first annual Candy & Costume for a Cause drive and bring happiness to children while emphasizing Vallacares’ commitment to making a difference in our local community.
With more than 41 million potential trick-or-treaters taking to the nation's streets each year on Halloween, Vallacare Family Physicians hopes to help struggling families with the job of finding the best costume for the little ghouls.
From October 1st through the 25th, people who wish to help can drop off unopened bagged candy, and new or gently used Halloween costumes and accessories, infants through adult size, individually bagged, labeled with information on gender, size and type.
Think big and help to collect 1,000 costumes and 100 pounds of candy -- or think small and spend an hour helping a single child. Sunday, October 25, the smile you see may be your own.
