Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Gulfside Regional Hospice Inc!
My mom, Virginia, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's when she was 52 years old. My family all lived in a small town in Nebraska, I was here in Tampa Bay, creating a new life with my husband, and feeling guilty that I wasn't near my mom to help in her care. After my sister and stepfather were unable to care for her themselves, they enlisted hospice to help. The nurses took great care of her, but as she got worse my family decided to move her to a nursing home. As it turned out a few months later she was joined by her own mother, and they shared the same room in the home.
At the too-young age of 60 my mother passed. My Grams, also with Alzheimer's, passed 3 weeks later.
It was a tough time for me with the guilt and sorrow and fear of being without both of them.
Not long ago I started working for Gulfside Regional Hospice and I feel that now it is my chance to "pay it forward" for the care my mom recieved.
I will walk in her, and my Grams', honor on November 8th. And I hope to raise $1000.00 so that others that are in need of Hospice care are able to receive it.
If you can, please help me reach my goal... any little bit helps. The people of Pasco County would appreciate it.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
This November 8, Gulfside Regional Hospice is sponsoring a walk to remember - our third Annual Hike for Hospice. This is very special walk for people just like you. With each step we take, we will be remembering someone very special in our lives. And, on this important day, there will be hundreds of patients facing a life-limiting illness who will also remember you - with gratitude.
Gulfside Regional Hospice is pleased to announce that Mike Alstott, former Tampa Bay Bucs star fullback, will be joining us for the third time to lead the Hike for Hospice! So come Hike with Mike this November 8!
