Nelson's
Thank you for visiting our Personal Fundraising Page.
Remembering when Nicholas was born and discovering he has a developmental disability, we entered a world that we were not expecting. At the same time we were amazed at how quickly we fell in love with this little one. Just as quickly we became afraid. Inside we know, that this special child is a gift. These same feelings are being experienced every day by new parents, and they won't know where to start, but they won't be alone.
There should not be one child born with a developmental disability who doesn't know love and acceptance. Not one of these precious children should have their voice taken from them by people who do not know them. No parent should feel desolation and overwhelmed by challenges. No family should have to make choices that cause their child with a disability to have to leave home or not receive services they need to live their best lives.
Nicholas is coming up on his second birthday and is crawling, babbling, standing, and aspires to walk very soon. He is a blessing in our life and continues to provide joy and happiness to everyone he can.
Nicholas will need life long supports in order to live, work and be active in our community. Our family depends on The Arc for resources to assist in our experiences as Nicholas grows. We are counting on The Arc to help make sure the supports and services that he and many others need will be there.
When Nicholas joined our family nearly two years ago, The Arc was one of the first places we looked for information and support. Local chapters like Arc Midstate are the key to the history of success of the Arc movement. Your gift will help Arc Midstate continue to make a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families.
The Arc was started by a group of parents who envisioned a better life for their children who had developmental disabilities. As a result, people with disabilities no longer live in institutions. They receive quality educations, and they live, work, play and contribute in their communities. Their lives are fulfilling and meaningful. Their families learn how to give them the best lives that they can through education, resources and networking. Please join us in contributing to this wonderful organization, so that this vital work can continue.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
