Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page.
Epilepsy is part of who I am, but it has not defined me….thanks to all of my friends and family who support and encourage me. I was first diagnosed with epilepsy when I was four years old. I have absence seizures, which can be described as lasting for 2 to 15 seconds and might resemble daydreaming, staring, eye fluttering or automatisms such as lip smacking, picking at clothes, fumbling, etc. My’ seizures have been controlled for the past 18 months through medication.
I don’t try to hide the fact that I have epilepsy. I try to openly tell my friends, teachers, coaches, and others about what I, and many others, go through.
I have been a part of the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota for several years and have been involved in the Shining Star Program, Camp Oz, Family and Friend events, Twins games, and most recently the Light Up the Night event. I was also the 2009 Winning Kid; a great honor! With your help, I have raised over $20,000 for the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota through the “Stroll for Epilepsy” events over the past five years.
My dad was just diagnosed with Epilepsy this past year. He had his first seizure when he was 40 and had another seizure last October. He never had a seizure before. Now, we are strolling together with greater hope to help raise money to educate on Epilepsy.
If you would like to join me and my team on the stroll, please let us know. It is on August 12, 2010 at Minnehaha Falls Park.
If you are able to dontate to help our cause, we would be grateful. Every penny helps to raise awareness and educate the public about Epilepsy.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts.
Thanks again for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Love,
Travis Boyum
