This will be my 4th time Polar Plunging for Special Olympics Alaska, and let me tell you--the water does NOT get any warmer.
But what does warm my heart is the face of these Special Olympic Athletes when they cross the finish line, and when they step up onto the podium to receive their medals. In that one moment of time, I see joy, pride, and confidence. I see the positive effects of days spent with friends, many of them new friends, striving to do their best and encouraging each other. I see more smiles in a weekend then I might see in a year.
Those moments of are worth much more than the few I'll spend in the icy waters of Goose Lake. Please donate whatever you can to help Special Olympics Alaska provide year round sports training and competiton for athletes with intellectual disablitlites.
Then, please come cheer on all of the plungers on December 15th. Thank you!
