As many of you are aware, I will be running the Athens Marathon this Fall in support of Bolder Options, a program that matches at-risk youth with adult mentors to train for running and biking races.

I have been involved with the Bolder Options program over the past few years and can honestly say that it has changed my life. My mentee has taught me so much and has become a lifelong friend. She is a true blessing and light in my life.

To me, the Bolder Options program represents the opportunity for our community to come together to support our youth, in whatever situation they are in, to show them that we care and believe in them. But more than that, it offers us the chance to be inspired by what young people can achieve.

The real lesson Bolder Options teaches is to set high goals and to go after them with everything we have. There are times when this seems impossible and it would be easier to lower our expectations than to exceed them, but the support and encouragement of someone who believes in us is often enough to keep us going - all the way to the finish line.

Along with training for the Athens Marathon over the next few months, I have also set the goal of raising $3500 for Bolder Options in hopes of giving another mentor and mentee the opportunity to have the same positive and life changing experience that my mentee and I had.

I am asking every person I know, and a lot of people I don't know, to make a donation to Bolder Options to help me reach my goal of $3500 by November 1.
