Kevin Bright's Marathon for Gilda's 2012
I started running in March 2011 after grabbing ahold of my nutrional habits in 2010. My family, health, body, mind, and spirit have supported these endeavors and allowed me to successfully compete in 13 races last year. Initially, I was the cause I was running for. Since then, it has become so much more.
I've decided to dedicate my first FULL marathon run to all of those who have been touched by cancer in my family. I will proudly represent Fleet Feet Sports - Pittsburgh, my running and training home, and will raise funds for Gilda's Club Western Pennsylvania.
Cancer has touched too many members of my family. My wife Barb has been touched by cancer. I've lost my Mom, Dad, and Grandmother Meme to cancer. I have two dear friends in Aspinwall and Tampa, FL who are currently dealing with cancer. I could go on beyond the immediate family.
While cancer casts a dark cloud over everyone touched, Gilda's Club serves as a ray of sunshine providing a network of support, programs, and a safe environment for patients, family, and friends. If you're not familair, check out their website for more information http://www.gildasclubwesternpa.org/ .
These services are provided free of charge but obviously require financial support from efforts such as this. Please consider making a donation in any amount to support my dedication and the good work going on daily at Gilda's Club. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your consideration and support. Please feel free to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Namaste.
Kevin
