Hi, My name is Britney Vargas. I am 13 years old.

In October 2008 I got sick and in May 2009 I had a Kidney biopsy and I was diagnosed with kidney disease.  I was so swollen from the medicines my family and friends didn't recognise me. I didn't like going out because people would stare at me.

In June 2009 I was admitted to "The Children's Hospital at Montefiore" in NY. I had a Bone Marrow biopsy which showed my Bone Marrow had stopped working. I was very sick and weak. Everyone at the hospital was so nice and caring. Lynsay from Child care became my buddy. I was so afraid and she would explain all the things being done to me.

I first heard about the "Songs of Love" foundation because Lynsay requested a song of love for me.

All the doctors and my family were really worried about me. My mom asked everyone to pray for a miracle. After two weeks in the hospital I felt better. The doctors said they don't have a scientific reason for me being better.  My doctor said yes, he believes it is a miracle. 

On Monday, June 29, 2009, Songs of Love held a benefit concert at B.B. King's Blues' Club in New York City featuring Matt Cusson, Javier and Billy Porter. During the concert the audience members helped finish a "song of love" for me.
 

Receiving this song was the best gift I have ever received. I was so swollen and afraid, this song made my heart happy.

Today, I am happy to say...my bone marrow is working and my kidney desease is in remission:-)

I need your help to raise $5000 to help me bring the Songs of Love foundation to the sick children in Puerto Rico and get the word out in New York and to let everyone know about the Songs of Love. I can not put into words what this song has meant to me. I hear my song often and it brings a smile to my face.

As a kid I grew up around alot of police officers. I used to march in the Puerto Rican Day parades in a police uniform since I was three years old. I used to visit the Pct. alot. I know police officers have a good heart. They are my friends. Please help me.
