Please read this. I know it’s long but it would mean a lot to me. Skim it over if you like, just give me a few minutes of your time.

So I know I’m really bad at updating this blog, but I can’t help it that life is happening all at the same time as I’m trying to dance, finish my last semester, and do research. I wish I could just dance all the time and, I have to admit, it’s nice knowing that when I feel frustrated, all I want to do is dance. If that means feeling ridiculous while I try to krump, then that’s how I feel. If that’s doing some sort of flowy movement of my gymnastics/ballet background, then great! If it’s putting my focus on something new like choreography or b-girling and top-rocking, then hellz yeah.

I’ve been meaning to write this entry for months now - literally since December in the least. But hey, I wanted it to be good! I’m actually in between writing a paper for class right now and cramming for my next test tomorrow morning and so I’m gonna try and write this quickly because I know it has to get done. Maybe my rushed-ness will make this more concise and compact for you and you haven’t wasted your life on it.

I have fallen in love with dance.

Since this is my senior year, I’ve been doing things that I haven’t gotten to do before - I joined several dance teams/crews which is why I started this blog in the first place! I am doing Dance Marathon this year and it will be my first year doing so! I’m excited because it goes to great causes, all that touch close to my heart, and it’s going to be so much fun. Going into this year and making plans for the next (or trying to, at least), I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of person that I want to be.

I want to be nice.
I want to be sincere and authentic and true.
I want to be a good person.
I want to help others.
I want to dance.
I want to find a way to help others by doing the things that I love.

I am truly blessed to have found my Kodachrome family and have them to dance with, support me, teach me, and love me. And I am always thankful everyday for all of the different families that I have and have grown up with. I thank all my friends, family, mentors, colleagues, teams, etc. for shaping me into the person that I am today and allowing me to grow. I am so glad that I have found dance and am so happy every time I hear that people can see that too.

In any case, I would be so extremely entirely grateful for any donations that would help support Dance Marathon and my quest to dance for 15 straight hours. I know I can do it, it’s what I want to be doing anyway =) I wanted to raise $500, because I wanted to go above and beyond. I’ve NEVER in my life done a fundraiser. I went through elementary school with those catalogs in my backpack, looking through them and never going around selling anything because I never felt like I had a network to go to. But now I do. And even though the Dance Marathon is on Saturday from 11am to 2am, I want to raise money. I know it’s late and I understand if you don’t want to give or don’t want to give much, but I don’t know if I could really express to you how much it would mean to me.

You can bet your buns that I’ll be getting videos of the night and Entropy Dance Crew is even performing and teaching at the marathon. I can’t wait!

I really hope that you’ll help me in this endeavor. $150 for 15 hours of dancing - that’s $10 an hour for dancing. That’s 15 friends that will sponsor me for 1 hour for $10. Or 30 friends for $5 each - that’s like, a trip to Starbucks! I know my friend Emily Adjoa (Adjoa Skinner) raised $10,000 for her music career and she made it! I was so proud and so it gives me hope that I can raise $150 for Dance Marathon.

I’m sorry if this post ended up being long anyway but I hope if you read this that you will seriously consider giving. Hell, if I meet $500, I would probably cry. And I’d make a choreography for you and post it to thank you! And that means a lot to me because I still have yet to choreograph a piece yet - I could make it my first official one.
