The Dojang we attend sponsors a fund raiser every year called the J.K. Lee Board Break-A-Thon. This event raises money for Milwaukee's Children's Hospital Cancer research. Last year this event raised almost $60,000.00 for Children's Hospital. Over the past 15 years this event has raised over $350,000 for cancer research. Our goal for 2009 is to raise over $65,000.
And this year, we are a “breaking boards” for Hollyn Peterson a young girl and fellow martial artist who defines the phrase "Warrior Spirit" as she continues to battle this devastating illness today!
So here are the rules, Elizabeth & I will be given five boards to break, and a pledge is made for each board. For example, if a student receives a pledge for $1 per board, the total pledge would be $5.00.
