WHO AM I?
Hello My Name is Carmen, also known to my friends, readers and fans as CAG. :-)
First I would like to thank you thank you THANK YOU for coming to my fundraising site and supporting such a worthy cause.
I will be wearing the same dress for 100 DAYS for charity. Why you ask? I’m extremely passionate about dedicating my time to helping people during their time of need. However, this cause hits close to home for me. Check out the story below…
BACKGROUND STORY
Last year my friend Gerard’s 3 year old daughter Payton was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, also known as ALL. According to the National Marrow Donor Program, there are about 4,000 new cases of ALL in the United States each year. It appears most often in children younger than age 10. Unfortunately, Miss Payton is looking at 2 1/2 years of rigorous chemotherapy (Sad Face), much of which will leave her and her family physically and emotionally exhausted.
To show my support for Gerard and his family, I ran in a race earlier this year and raise almost $2,000 for Believe In Tomorrow's 15th Annual Port to Fort 6k Run/Family Walk. Believe In Tomorrow National Children’s Foundation, Inc. has done so much for Gerard, his family and many other families with critically children. But I wanted to do more. So I decided to combine two of my biggest passions to help more; fashion and service!
From July 4th to October 12th I will be wearing the same little black dress (LBD) in order to bring awareness to this wonderful cause AND the fashion sustainability. I am not the first to so this but like those whom have preceded me, I am a passionate do-it-yourselfer (DIY) that will do just about anything to help someone. Every day you will be able to visit my website (www.caggivesback.com) and see the different outfits I come up with using the same black dress.
