I've decided. I’m running the 2012 ING New York City Marathon this November. I'm aligning my athletic ambitions with my philanthropic ones, and will be running to raise money for The Pink Agenda (TPA).
TPA is a not-for-profit 501(c) (3) organization committed to raising money for breast cancer care and research and awareness of the disease among young professionals. The organization’s efforts are intended to not only expedite the eventual discovery of a cure for the disease, but also to raise awareness among young professionals, resulting in earlier detection, as well as an understanding of where to go for support and resources if ever faced with a breast cancer diagnosis.
I selected to run for The Pink Agenda, not only because they have a noble mission, but also because of my personal ties to breast cancer, as my grandmother Rita Maher passed away at a young age after battling the disease.
I hope I can count on your support. Donations both large and small will be gratefully received—and can be made by clicking here. Donations may also be sent to The Pink Agenda, P.O. Box 594, New York, NY 10008. Please be sure to mention that the donation is being made in my name; all donations are tax-deductible.
Running 26.2 miles won’t be easy (Eek!), but neither is battling—or eradicating—breast cancer.
Thank you for your support.
