Cait Weiss: NYWC Write-a-Thon
Thanks for visiting my NYWC Write-a-Thon Page! If you know me, you probably know how much NYWC means to me. This is the organization behind the writing workshops I lead for disadvantaged teens in Coney Island, the organization behind my (very rough draft) novel, the organization behind my ever-growing conviction that everyone has a story worth sharing.
Please help me ensure the growth of NYWC with a donation. Your gift will benefit NYWC's free creative writing programs. NYWC is one of the largest community based writing programs in the world, and each week their dedicated group of workshop leaders lead dozens of free workshops for at-risk youth, the incarcerated and formerly incarcerated, the homeless, the disabled, war veterans, immigrants, seniors, LGBT youth and adults, cancer survivors, and many many others who wouldn't otherwise have access to the power of creative writing.
They serve more than 1,000 people a year in free creative writing workshops - an amazing accomplishment!
Your pledges will help NYWC continue to offer free, unique and powerful creative writing workshops in neighborhoods throughout NYC, publish inspiring books and hold exciting public events like NYWC Day, the Fort Greene Park Summer Literary Festival, Write-Makes Might , The Write Stuff , the Writing Aloud Reading Series, and much much more.
Please consider joining the NYWC team at the Write-A-Thon (click here to register/make your page). I won't be able to attend because (thanks to NYWC) I've been accepted into the Sarah Lawrence Summer Writers Workshop with a partial scholarship beginning June 23rd. Still, you should go - and invite others! After all, you never know what incredible story you will hear, or better yet, uncover. Take care, and thank you!
