Emma Lynn
I can't believe we will soon be participating our our third Angelman Syndrome Walk-A-Thon...the years seem to fly by!
Emma started pre-school in January and is having a blast! Now even more people get to share in the joy Emma brings to our lives. We've also noticed some wonderful advances with Emma. While she is not yet walking on her own, she will "walk" with assistance...a little straight-legged and with a bit of a lean, but we cheer her on and the pride on her face is so evident. She just beams. Hopefully she'll be able to "walk" across the finish line this year. Of course her favorite form of travel remains scooting across the floor on her behind. Her teachers have commented on how speedy she is...no slowing our girl down! Emma remains non-verbal in the conventional sense, but chatters up a storm. I keep saying we need an Emma translator!
As always she brings a joy and light to our lives that is indescribable. When someone talks about unconditional love, they are talking about our Emma. Emma can make a lousy day truly magical just with a smile.
Once again I am approaching you for sponsorship of our Walk. We will be walking in Irvine on May 19th. The funds raised from the walk are used for research to help enrich the lives of Angels and their families. The funds raised allow researchers to continue in the effort to understand Angelman, work on the development of new and improved treatments (there have been some promising results with the use of Levodopa with several individuals with AS), and hopefully, a cure. Through your donation you will be making a difference in Emma's life and that of thousands of other Angels and for that we are truly grateful. I thank you and Emma sends Angel hugs and kisses your way!
