12/27 update - I hear it is about 32 degrees in Lake Michigan these days - help me reach my goal!

Most of you know that I have been volunteering with animal shelters over the past 5 years and ALIVE Rescue is very dear to me.  I had to put Barney down last February and there is not a day that I don't miss him but I know that making it 15 1/2 years is pretty darn good for a dog his size.  He would have LOVED this event and probably would have followed me in...well, maybe just in the shallows!  (Hey, he was a smart dog and knew his limitations - one being that his feet weren't webbed and he couldn't keep up with his retriever buddies.)  I am doing this in his honor - for all the years of joy he brought to my life and because he would have loved seeing me go in the fah-reezin water.

I need your help! 

Sponsor me for the Shelter Shiver on New Year's Day 8am (gasp) where I will run into Lake Michigan (double gasp) to raise money for shelter animals with ALIVE Rescue. 

I'm sure some local TV stations will be there and we'll have plenty of pictures proving that I did this crazy feat for the love of animals.  Believe me, you couldn't pay me to do this otherwise!
