*** Thank you for all of your support ***
The ride was a tremendous success and the amount of money we raised is geratly appreciated by the gang at Special Olympics.
Although the wind did not let up on the ride into Savannah, the sky was sunny, warm and bright as we made our way to the river and the warm greeting of the "waving girl" statue.
We all look forward to hearing from you again as we hopefully head up the coast next year to Charleston.
Thank you.
***** MORE FROM THE ROAD ****
Dateline: Statesboro, GA - end of day 2
Wind! Wind! and more Wind! No matter which way we turned, we had wind. Although we had overcast, cool skies, the wind made for one tough day on the road. Brother Bob did his usual yeomans job, capturing the major sprinting activity throughout the day and having the fuel waiting for us at the lunch stop.
We had our first mechanical incident, going through not one, not two, but three tubes on one tire change. Yes, you can put too much air in a tube, and it can sound like a gun shot in the middle of the countryside. No harm, no foul.
Given the state of the peloton, we all look forward to a leisurely trek into Savannah on day three.
**** UPDATE FROM THE ROAD TO SAVANNAH ****
The weary bike riders have made it to Sandersville for the evening, after a hot, tough day in the hills of East-Central Georgia, culminated by the epic climb into Deepstep, GA. Some classic sprints were contested at the various city and county line markers, and none were given up easily.
We march on towards Statesboro on Friday, in search of fast flat roads.
