GUARDIAN ANGEL BASSET RESCUE, INC.

2011 Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Illinois Waddle Dwight,  Illinois
Training buddies: For the love of Bassets

2011 Guardian Angel Basset Rescue Illinois Waddle

As a foster home, I have seen the tremendous changes that we can make in the life of a dog who has no hope, by rehabilitating dogs who have been abused and neglected and surrendered through no fault of their owners, but the picture to the right is proof positive of the hope and love these dogs can give back .  In Oct. 2010 I accepted Shelby as a foster. She was blind as a result of glaucoma.    She was very insecure and had tremendous separation anxiety.  My 9 year old granddaughter was experiencing severe anxiety of her own, due to the death of her father, and she saw a kindred spirit who was also in pain, in Shelby.  They bonded immediately.  One day, as my granddaughter lay on the couch watching a movie, Shelby jumped up on the couch with her, crawled on top of her and fell asleep.  They lay together like this for nearly two hours, comforting each other.  Shelby began overcoming her anxieties and became more self assured, and the healing process began for both of them.  Shelby continued to be a great healer for my granddaughter when she lost her mother a few months later, and Shelby  is now a full fledged member of our family, and while she continues to be a source of comfort for my granddaughter, she delights all of us with her indomitable spirit and endless ability to love.

I have volunteered for Guardian Angel for over two years now, and it is one of the most satisfying jobs I have ever had.  The work they do goes beyond the territory they cover in Il. and Indiana, the territory that they cover.  They have helped over 50 other non-profits raise money by participating in our Corvette raffle. Every person involved with the organization is a volunteer.  The money we raise goes to the treatment of the bassets, and it truly is "All about the dogs".

Please help me raise funds for this organization that is close to my heart. Guardian Angel Basset rescue is the largest single breed rescue in the Midwest. Guardian Angel rescues, provides full veterinary care, fosters and hand selects a home for over 300 dogs each year.

On September 17-18, 2011, Guardian Angel Basset Rescue is holding their 14th Annual Waddle. The Illinois Waddle is a weekend long celebration of the breed attended annually by over 1,000 bassets and their families. It is Guardian Angel’s primary source of funding. I raise money for the rescue of Bassets because over 30 Basset Hounds have  touched my life. They are truly wonderful, loving dogs that complete our family. I support Guardian Angel through the Basset Waddle as GABR is comprised of hardworking, exceptional and committed volunteers who are dedicated to helping Bassets in need. It’s the kind of group I want to support – that’s why I WADDLE!!

I count on the support of fellow dog lovers, our families, friends and business associates to provide healthy, happy lives for every dog that we rescue.
