Dear Friends:
It’s been a hard winter in the Piedmont Triad. How does a dip in the water sound? At DMJ, we are looking forward to continuing our firm’s annual tradition of taking a swim in 32 degree water for the Guilford County Sheriff’s Department Polar Plunge on Saturday, February 26, 2011.
We are so proud of the continued generosity of our clients and friends. Together, we raised over $10,000 in 2010. While DMJ is proud of its annual award of “Most Money Earned,” we share greater pride in seeing the success of these athletes and providing for them at a significant level. To demonstrate how fundraising impacts the athletes directly, consider:
• $35 will provide a new basketball uniform for a Special Olympics athlete.
• $60 will provide Coaches’ Training and Certification in a chosen sport for two new volunteer coaches.
• $110 will send one Special Olympics golfer to the Special Olympics NC state-level Fall Tournament in High Point.
• $204 will provide Alpine skiing competition for one Special Olympics athlete.
• $500 will provide the skating rink for the 2011 Special Olympics Southeast Regional Ice Skating Championship.
Now in our 11th year of participation, Team DMJ is prepared to take the plunge for another year. DMJ partner, Dana Beeson, serves as an example to all of us for her years of volunteerism to Special Olympics, both as a coach and mentor, and most recently the recipient of the Presidential Service Award.
Please consider joining DMJ in the effort to provide Special Olympics athletes with the resources they need to experience the joy in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other athletes, and the community. Contributions can be mailed in the enclosed self-addressed, stamped envelope and checks should be made payable to “Special Olympics North Carolina.” We will reply with written acknowledgement of your contribution for your records. If you prefer, you may also give on-line on our secure First Giving website at http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/caren-rodriguez/guilford-county-sheriffs-department-polar-plunge.
If you would like to see Team DMJ take the plunge, we invite you to join us on Saturday, February 26, 2011, at Wet N’ Wild Emerald Pointe. It is a wonderful community event!
