I sent you the email telling you about this opportunity because I have been part of a ministry team with Eternity Minded Ministries in the past. When I worked with them I was very much impressed by the way they do a holistic version of the Gospel where ever they go.

During the first week of December Eternity Minded Ministries is going to bring the Gospel to the village of Rwamagana, (pronounced Rawmagana) in the eastern part of the central African country of Rwanda. Eternity Minded Ministries takes a holistic approach to ministry. They try to minister to people in the same way that we see in the book of Acts in the Bible. They do this with a 4 point ministry described by the accrostic H.E.L.P. The H stands for Humanatarian Aid. The E stands for Evangelism. The L stands for Leadership Training and the P stands for Planting New Churches.

What I want to ask of you is that you consider helping this ministry in Rwanda with a financial gift to provide medical care for people in Rwanda who cannot afford it. The Rwandan Government with the help of international aid organizations has developed a Mutual Medical Care Program for all of its citizens. Because of the foreign aid they have received for this program it is possible for ordinary people to enroll in the program by paying an annual preimum of only 1,000 Rwanda Francs per person per year. That is the equivalent of about $2 per person!

You may know that a few years ago there was a terrible genocide in Rwanda during which more than 800,000 people were murdered simply because they were a member of one ethnic tribe. That situation has left the country with thousands of orphans and widows who have no way of providing for their own basic needs much less the funds to enroll in the Mutual Medical Care Program. In addition Rwanda has one of the continent's highest rates of HIV/Aids infected persons.

Becasue of this Eternity Minded Ministries has adopted, at the suggestion of the pastors in Rwamagana, a humanitarian aid ministry of providing the funds needed to enroll people into the Mutual Medical Care Program. The average family size in Rwamagana is 7 people. Each family member can be enrolled in the program for an entire year for only about $2 each. So the whole family can be enrolled for only $14! EMM has a goal of giving 1,000 families, or 7,000 people the gift of enrolling them into the pragram in the name of Jesus.

I know these are difficult economic times here but the situation is even worse in Rwanda. These people really need our help in order to receive the medical care that they cannot afford on their own.
