2006 Nunes Family Bike Tour - 5,200 Miles for Half the Sky Foundation
Ron, Kate and Elizabeth (6 years old) Nunes ride a triplet bike beginning April 6th from Florida to Washington State - 5200 miles!
The Nunes' journey through 17 states (FL, AL, MS, LA, TN, KY, IL, MO, KS, NE, IA, ID, SD, ND, MT, OR, WA) will support Half the Sky Foundation, which provides individual nurturing care to children in Chinese orphanages (www.halfthesky.org). Supporters can donate any amount in honor of the Nunes Family bike tour. Some supporters are calculating their donations per mile. Others are donating specific amounts. Every penny donated makes a difference in the life of a child.
Why is the Nunes Family biking across the USA? "Because we can.... because we want to see our country... because I (Kate) hate cars and don't want to drive across the country again... because we want our daughter to see small towns, meet people who you might not "normally" talk to, smile, wave, have a good time... because it's an adventure... because the only time we really feel "on vacation" is when we are self propelled (hiking, biking or kayaking)... because we want to eat ice cream every day. Mostly, we're thrilled to support our favorite charity, Half the Sky Foundation."
