I am honored this year to be running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon as part of a team raising money for the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund. The NLEOMF honors those who gave their lives while protecting ours. In addition, in 2012 they will open a museum that honors all of law enforcement and the heroic efforts they make every day. This fund is very dear to my heart in that it provides respect and honor to a group of people who risk their lives every day for us. My Grandfather, "Pappy" Jim Porter, was a retired PA State Policeman and worked in Butler County for many years.
The team I am running with, Team Hicks, was created to honor FBI Agent Sam Hicks who was killed in the line of duty in 2008 as he was involved in a drug raid outside of Pittsburgh. Now the team runs to show respect to all Law Enforcement Officers.
As part of a team 'Running to Remember' these heroes in the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, it is my goal to raise $200 to honor these great men and women. Please join me in honoring our fallen heroes and all Law Enforcement Officers by donating on this site to the NLEOMF.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
