Hi Friends,

I am writing to ask you to support me in my attempt to raise money for AIDS Walk 2008. It is a particularly important time for us in the fight against HIV/AIDS. There has been so much focus on AIDS in Africa and other countries that we are having a very hard time getting anyone to contribute to local AIDS organizations. There is also a surprising number of people who think it is not a problem here, you just take some drugs and live a "normal" life. There also continues to be an increase in the number of teenagers and young adults who are getting infected. The "abstinance only" concept kids are learning in school is resulting in a higher number of kids getting infected.

In addition to prevention we help hundreds of HIV/AIDS clients on a daily basis with things like insurance, food bank, housing, emotional support and extended care for indiviuals who need 24/7 care.

I know there are many causes to contribute to and not enough money for all, but I am asking you to PLEASE contribute to New Mexico AIDS services AIDS Walk 2008.
