Lucy, Cali and I will be participating in Second Chance Animal Shelter's 2008 "Walk 'N Wag to raise money for the care of our "many furry friends". This year, not only am I participating in the walk, but I am the 2008 Walk 'N Walk chairperson. Because of the faltering ecomomy and the many foreclosures, dogs and cats have been surrendered to Second Chance because their owners lost their homes, or just couldn't afford to keep them. Purebreed or mixbreed...doesn't matter, all animals are feeling the pinch.
Last year Second Chance Animals Shelter in East Brookfield, MA placed about 500 dogs/cats and spayed/neutered approximately 2000 animals. We try to help people keep their pets through the shelter's low cost spay/neuter progam and vaccine clinics.
Donating through our website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. However, if you prefer to mail a check, please make it out to Second Chance Animal Shelter. You can mail it to me at P.O. Box 143 North Brookfield, MA 01535.
Asking for funds is not easy for me, but I know first hand that Second Chance is helping many animals. We help people by easing their fear and stress by taking the pet they can no longer keep and finding that animal a wonderful home. Check out the Happy Endings on our website www.secondchance.org . A lot of the animals who come in together and are bonded are placed together. Second Chance also has a very active educational outreach program. Volunteers go into the schools to talk about pet responsibiltiy, pet care, and pet safety. Many thanks for your support. If you can, join us for our walk on September 21:)
