Justice is blind, & now he's fighting a deadly infection
Justice didn't have many options when his owners dumped him at the City of Buffalo Animal Shelter. But we got a call from some wonderful people there who knew he was a great dog if only they could move him to a no-kill rescue group.
We took Justice in, even though we didn't have foster space. Then we got him in for a complicated neuter surgery, when only 2 days later he developed a life-threatening antibiotic-resistant staph infection at his incision site. Justice had to go back in for life-saving surgery to cut away the necrotized skin, and also part of his tongue (because he had been licking the area as well).
Home he went to his wonderful foster parents, Jill & Tony. Justice is on crate rest and he has to have his open wound packed with a specially treated gauze daily. He also takes 17 different pills each day, including a very special and costly antibiotic to treat his staph infection. He takes daily trips to the vet to check the progress of his infection, and with lots of tender loving care, it looks like he's turned the corner.
We hope that he can go back into the vet soon to have his open packed wound cleaned for a last time and stitched back closed.
But all of this care has come at a tremendous price: several thousand dollars, and he will have to continue on his expensive antibiotic regimen for some time still ($200 for 7 days treatment, and that's just one drug).
Please reach into your heart and your pocket, and donate even a little toward Buffalo Humane's expenses for this wonderful boy! He didn't deserve to die just because he was blind. And we expect Justice to recover completely from his surgical setback and the infection he has valiantly fought off with the aid of his vets and special medications.
Funds for Justice's care, and other companion animals in need just like him, come from Buffalo Humane's special "Angus Fund". The Angus Fund was a fund started by friends and family of John and Judy of Sterling Place Tavern, Hertel Ave, Buffalo, to commerate the couple's wonderful pet Akita named Angus, who passed away at the age of 18. This fund is set up specifically to help with the care of animals that need more far more than routine veterinary care and whose care would be largely prohibitive without your support.
We have a very large veterinary bill, even though our vets have discounted his care greatly, and we have additional future anticipated medical expenses as Justice continues to recover. Please consider donating even a small amount to our Angus Fund to help cover the expenses of Justice. Any funds raised in excess of those needed by Justice's case will allow us to make commitments to other animals with more extensive medical needs.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Justice sends big licks!
