Help us raise money for homeless dogs and cats!
Frank and Carol will again be cookin' up fine BBQ in support of local homeless animals . . .
NO, we're not BBQ'ing puppies. That's just little Freddie sittin' and waitin' for some of Frank's smokin' ribs.
Frank and Carol Tutzauer here. We'll again be competing in the Oinktoberfest BBQ Cookoff held last weekend in September as part of the Great Fall Pumpkin Festival in Clarence, NY. And, like last year, we'll be raising money for our favorite charity, Buffalo Humane, all at the same time.
Our team, named Dog House Willie & the Kitty Q Krewe in recognition of this year's Smoke 'n Blues theme, will be preparing Frank's meaty dry-rubbed pork ribs, Moroccan spice-rubbed rottiserie chickens, North Carolina pulled pork, and an authentic Texas-style beef brisket. Our featured side dish will be a fireside mixed bean dish inspired by midwestern cattle drives, and we are keeping mum on our entry for the dessert category, bein' cooked up special by chef Ben Elbirt, who is on our team this year. Oh, and did we mention that our team is competing with the BIG BOYS in the professional division this year. Not the wimpy backyard division, like last year.
How can you help? Well you might want to be a member of the cooking team, as we are lookin' for some brave souls to serve as sous chefs and assist with the overnight cooking duties as well as the accompanying beer-drinkin' and relaxin' once everything has been sent off for judging. There will be plenty of beer in the cooler while we kick back after a hard 24-hours work and await announcement of the competition results. Contact Carol and Frank at tutzauer@buffalo.edu if interested in being a member of the competition team.
The rest of you slackers can support our team's efforts on behalf of Buffalo Humane, by sponsoring us with a donation. Last year's BBQ team, called Team CAT-astrophe, raised $400. This year, the hope is to raise more than double that amount. The money raised goes to support dog- and cat-rescue work, and Dog House Willie and the Kitties are all in favor of that!
It's easy to donate right here. Then, mark your calendars, so you'll be sure to come out to the event. You can stop by to say Hi and visit a spell. Hell, we might even have some leftovers to gobble up:
