Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. 21 years ago, I founded Art On Wheels, Inc. as a tribute to my Mom, Charlet Barnes First. She was an extraordinary writer, watercolorist, friend and, best of all, Mom. As I reflect upon the spirit in which I began our services so many years ago, I can't help but smile as I look at this picture of the three of us; Mom driving her motorized cart through our zoo, a day out with family, nothing held more dear. Mom fought lung cancer. The cart was a wonderful tool to help her stay mobile. Julie, our daughter, is in the wagon. What an amazing blessing. She's a grown, married lady today, with her own thriving business in the arts. The wagon also carried our lunch, Mom's oxygen, birds that would visit to eat my daughter's french fries, you name it. And there I am, privileged to walk beside the lady who taught me to be who I am today. Three generations of practicing artists. 21 years later, Mom's lessons continue to guide me.
Art On Wheels, Inc. is a 501c3 traveling nonprofit art education organization. Hope you'll visit our website to learn more about us at http://www.aowinc.com/Home.html
I've created this firstgiving page to reach a specific goal for Art On Wheels, Inc. One of the groups of individuals whom we serve is made up of students with disabilities from various Cleveland schools. These students visit us once a week at a neighborhood church for their art classes. Recently, I was told that there are many additional students who would like to start their art classes and begin their own series of weekly classes, but there is no funding for the program.
As I think about the creating of a joyful spirit that I learned from my Mom, it seems that Mother's Day is the perfect time to launch a fund-raising endeavor to implement a nourturing program for children in our community. I would like ask you to help me raise the funds for this programming. Your donation will give these extraordinary young people the opportunity to express themselves and feel their own joy through their creative hands on art activities with Art On Wheels, Inc.
On behalf of our Board, our staff and those we serve, thank you so much for your kind and generous giving of the heart. No amount is too small. As our CWRU Professor used to remind us, "You can even eat an elephant, one bite at a time!"
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. Please feel free to contact me directly for any questions or comments.
