Paws for a Cause Dog Walk and 5K Run
...making positive change, that's what life is all about, that’s what Cody strives to do...
My dog Cody is a rescue from the Portsmouth Humane Society. He had very bad mange as a puppy and the monetary burden of the treatments were just too much for most folks to handle. He was considered unadoptable and was on his last few days when I spotted him on the internet. I adopted him two days later on October 10, 2007. I often shudder at the thought of his life being cut short because the shelter could not afford the cost or time to treat his condition.
Cody is now in excellent health and has completed several levels of dog training. He is currently a therapy dog with Therapy Dog International and volunteers once a month to read with children at the Grissom Library. His tireless wags and super soft coat brings out the smile in everyone he meets.
I feel strongly about helping these animals in need. Animals that experienced the love of a family, then, for whatever reason, were given up to the shelter. They don’t understand what they did wrong or why they no longer have a home.
Cody has brought me incredible joy. I know his buddies in the Peninsula SPCA are just waiting for a home so they too can bring joy into the lives of a loving family. These gentle and lonely souls would do anything for an opportunity to share their unfailing and unconditional love with a caring family.
If you are interested in helping toward this cause, you can donate through this website. The process is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. You can also make donations directly to me which will be turned in on May 20th.
