Autism Walk/Run  Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Veteran's  Park Hoover, AL

Thank you for visiting the Kids of BWF Fundraising Page. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to our fundraising efforts for those individuals living with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to your friends and family who might be fortunate enough to be able donate too!

The walk will be raising money for the Autism Society of Alabama (ASA).They have been instrumental in improving the quality of life of persons living with with an ASD and their families through education, advocacy and support.  They are working hard to increase the quantity and quality of services provided to these individuals.  They have helped many families start their autism journey.  This is extremely important as currently there is no treatment plan for those living with an ASD.  It is also so very important as the numbers are rising of people living with an ASD.  It has been determined that 1 in 88 children in the United States are living with an ASD (1 in 54 boys).  Here in AL, it has been shown that we have had a 50% increase from 2002.  In some states, this number is actually worse.  These numbers do not reflect any of the children under age 8, which include hundreds of other children in AL in that age group.  We fear that the number will double in the very near future.

We know in this economic atmosphere, people are finding it hard to donate....us too!!  but we are asking again this year to donate to this exceptional and very necessary organization.  Without ASA, the people living on the spectrum here in Alabama would find it more and more difficult to obtain services and have their voices heard.  When given the appropriate opportunity, those living with an ASD can make a unique contribution to their family, community and to society and become productive and successful adults.
